The Amathuba Foundation walks alongside promising young students who have received sponsorship to attend top high schools in KZN. These students often face significant challenges as they navigate the gap between their home and school environments. Amathuba provides personalised mentorship to each student, offering guidance, support, and encouragement throughout their high school journey and during their transition into university – empowering them to succeed both academically and personally.

The Amathuba Foundation believes that a single opportunity can change the trajectory of a child’s life, unlocking their full potential and bringing hope. But opportunity alone is not enough. That hope needs to be looked after and guided well, through mentorship.

Our Unique Approach: side-by-side Mentorship from ages 12 to 22.

Much like scaffolding in construction—temporary support that helps a building reach its full height and strength without collapsing during fragile stages—our mentorship provides vital guidance and support during a critical period of development.

Once the structure is stable and capable of standing on its own, the scaffolding is removed. Similarly, Amathuba’s Mentorship builds genuine relationships and supports our Mentees until they are confident and independent.

Our B-CRIGG Mentorship Programme, facilitated by our trained Mentors, runs alongside students’ five-year high school journey. Guided by our core values—BELONGING, COMPASSION, RELATIONSHIPS, INTEGRITY, GRATITUDE, and GENEROSITY—this programme aims to transform lives, inspire families, and empower communities. Ultimately, we hope these learners will contribute to social change in South Africa in the future.
